Hillsborough Community College art instructor Jeanne Cameron and art students from her past and current art classes have joined to present a group show, "Stretching the Imagination."
An art teacher in the Tampa Bay area for the past 15 years, Cameron teaches fine arts and graphic design at the University of Tampa as well as at Hillsborough Community College. Though her focus always has been oil painting, she recently has moved into incorporating digital elements in her paintings.
The exhibit opens with a free reception today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ybor Campus Art Gallery, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Building, 2204 N. 15th Street at the corner of Palm Ave.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For information, call (813) 253-7674 or visit www .hccfl.edu/yc/art-gallery .aspx.
Artists embrace July 4th
The Artist Emporium and Kick Start My Art present a new "Emerge" show with a theme that celebrates the season. Called "Art Independence," the monthlong show features works by nearly 30 guest artists.
Meet the "Emerge" artists and several of the nearly 70 regular gallery artists at a free opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Emporium, 3415 Bay to Bay Blvd., in the Starbucks Plaza.
In addition to the usual merriment, this month's mixer features an outside tent where $5 buys barbecue and a drink. Proceeds from food sales benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
The "Emerge" art will be on display through July.
