LAKE PLACID — A Lake Placid man remained in Highlands County Jail without bond Monday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder in the May 11 shooting of a Lake Placid man. Sheriff's investigators arrested Matwain Donyel Bryant, 24, of 149 Zion St., a suspect in the shooting of Sherman Murray Wyche, 26, who was shot six times in the leg and back outside of the Highway Park Liquors, located at 101 Vision St. near Crestmore Drive, in the Highway Park subdivision. AVON PARK — Former SFCC Panther and current Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Jesse Litsch returned to his old stomping grounds on Friday evening, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day against St. Petersburg College. Litsch, who graduated from SFCC and was named Florida Pitcher of the Year in 2004, signed autographs and took pictures with many of the same fans who came out to cheer him on when he was striking opposing batters out on a much smaller stage.
